Art Auction to Benefit the Aspen Art Museum
The Aspen Art Museum is an exhibition focused, non-collecting museum. Its first exhibition in 1979, ‘American Portraits of the Sixties and Seventies,’ featured Diane Arbus, Chuck Close, Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Mapplethorpe, and others.
The museum’s annual ArtCrush 2023 gala is on Friday, August 4, 2023. Co-chaired by Jamie Tisch and Sara Zilkha, this year’s gala will honor artist Nairy Baghramian with the Aspen Award for Art.
The live and online auctions are hosted by Sotheby’s. The ten works in the live auction include Baghramian, Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe, and Carmen Herrera.
Works in both auctions have an estimate range from $2,000 to $400,000. All proceeds from the event will support the museum’s exhibitions and educational programs. You can view the work in the live auction here.
If you are not attending the gala, the works will be on view at the museum until August 3rd.
Baghramian’s solo exhibition, ‘Jupon de Corps,’ is also on view. It includes some of her key works as well as site-specific sculptures in the outdoor commons. You can read more about the exhibition here.
