Frieze Seoul | Sep 6-9 | COEX in the Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea | Tickets
Frieze Week is back in Seoul this week! Enjoy special events, activations, and partner projects throughout the city.
Frieze Seoul will be held at COEX from September 6-9, 2023. More than 120 leading galleries from Asia and beyond will exhibit their best works. The fair will be in Gangnam, Seoul, alongside Kiaf Seoul, South Korea’s leading art fair.
Frieze Highlighting Seoul’s Non-profits
Frieze and Arts Council Korea (ARKO) will collaborate to promote a series of events at 35 non-profit art spaces to support Seoul’s vibrant culture of artist-run and independent spaces and the city’s active grassroots art scene.
Twenty-one of the selected non-profits have previously received support from the ARKO Selection Visual Art program, and the remaining 14 were chosen after consultation with ARKO and Frieze Film curators Sungah Serena CHOO and KIM Sung Woo.
Gallery Nights During Frieze Week in Seoul
A highlight of Frieze Week in Seoul is late-night openings at three of Seoul’s most important gallery districts: Hannam, Cheongdam, and Samcheong. Each district has a unique personality and is worth exploring. Since the galleries are open late, go early to explore the neighborhood beforehand.

Frieze Film
Frieze Film is open to the public from August 22nd to September 9th. The theme, “It was the way of walking through narrative,” explores how video can be used as a method of excavation, an archaeological term used to uncover histories that have been erased or omitted from official records. The works in the festival take a nonlinear journey through time, blending the past, present, and future.
Curated by Sungah Serena CHOO and KIM Sung woo, the program showcases the work of 14 Korean artists. Their video works will be exhibited in four non-profit spaces in Seoul: Amado Art Space and MOTHER Offline in Hannam-dong, Boan1942 in Tongui-dong, and Insa Art Center in Samcheong-dong.
The artists featured are:

Where to Stay in Seoul for Frieze
Staying at a hotel within walking distance of the fair is convenient to avoid traffic and to be able to take a break during the day. It also allows you to explore the area around the fair and experience all that Seoul has to offer.
